Keta EP Basic school holds graduation ceremony for pupils

The Evangelical Presbyterian basic school in Keta in the Keta Municipality of the Volta region, have held a graduation ceremony for pupils.

The ceremony which was the first of it kind was aimed at motivating young ones to learn hard.

Madam Rebecca Akumey Girraldo,the headteacher of the school,told SandCity radio that the other objectives of the ceremony was to promote quality teaching and learning.

“Since the establishment of the school here, it never had a graduation ceremony before and we decided to use this opportunity to outdoor new gowns as well,” she stated.

She said the graduation ceremony was held for outgoing pupils from kindergarten two (KG2) to class one to commemorate the transition from one level to another.

She commended Mama Ewui Amegashie lll for the donation of the graduation gowns which would help in other subsequent graduations.

Madam Akumey further explained that since its establishment in 1806 it has produced a good number of students who acquired the needed access to quality education from well trained teachers.

She also outlined some other challenges such as inadequate teaching staff,insufficient water supply, and lack of school feeding programme in the school.

“Unavailability of teachers is affecting our academic performance and few staff here are under a serious pressure.”

She further used the opportunity and appealed to the individuals, coorperate organizations, philanthropists,Chiefs, and the government to held solve the challenges in order to put the school to its best.
